GREAT SUCCESS FOR THE MINIBASKET TOURNAMENT
48 teams, 762 miniplayers, wins Reyer Venezia
The fifteenth edition of the international Befana tournament will be archived as the edition of the record. Never befor the basketball exhibition, dedicated to the category Aquilotti, had seen such a wide participation: 762 miniplayers and 48 teams from all over Italy and the Balkan Peninsula (the Macedonian formation KK Tomas) have honored the competition culminated yesterday with the finals played in eight gyms in Padua and surroundings. To win the final in a Palaberta overflowing of typhus was Reyer Venezia Gold, who beat Chg basketball trieste (44-33). In small final valid for third place, Mens Sana Siena 1871 won on Leoncina Blu (46-44). But the event, sponsored by Hurricane Basketball, was mainly a spot for the minibasket allowing many children and some girls to spend four days with their peers and make new friends. The organizing committee then also thought to needy children by donating a portion of the proceeds of the entries in the projects of the Foundation Fountain charities. At the end of the event the oscar of the tournament have been delivered: the prize Valerio Tontini for the best instructor went to Stefano Agnolini (Minibasket Bassano), the prize for fair play named to Alessandro Basso ended up in the hands of the player Matteo Rolli (Cmb Trieste). The player Matteo Nicolucci (Virtus Siena) was awarded for his sympathy.
